AROUND the village & OUR SITE.
Wylam is a beautiful Northumbrian village 10 miles upstream from Newcastle upon Tyne and 12 miles downstream from Hexham. It is just downhill the world heritage site of Hadrian's Wall and the route 72 coast-to-coast cycle route runs through the village. The River Tyne runs through the village and there a dozens of walks on the doorstep to the site.
Wylam has 4 pubs (which serve food), 2 restaurants, 2 shops (with cash machines), a takeaway and a coffee shop. It has a train and bus route that takes you either East to Newcastle or West to Hexham and beyond. It is also just off the A69 and A695 road.
Wylam also has Close House golf course (host of the British Masters) just outside and the River offers a lot of fishing opportunities (fishing licence available from the Spar shop). Lastly, Wylam has a few parks and playing fields for children.
With everything that it has to offer, Wylam is definitely a hidden gem of the North East.
